Orville Peck is sharing some details about his love life that involve a Las Vegas Raiders star.
Peck's album Mule, dropped on Friday, Sept. 18, in which the country music star shared that he "made out" with an NFL star.
On the song, “Ring the Bell,” Peck sings, “I love the Lakers, the Mets and the Longhorns, made out with a guy on the Raiders.”
The country star told Variety that before the song's release, he spoke to the unidentified NFL star for permission to share their moment together. Peck also shared that he was "very honored" to be included in the song.
“I’m going to preface this by saying that I did receive permission to sing that lyric from the subject in question, and he was very thrilled,” Peck says. “I told him, ‘Look, I’m gonna keep it sort of ambiguous and mysterious, but I would like to include this in this song.’"
While Peck has not name-dropped who the NFL star is, he shared that they are not "hiding" their sexuality.
He continues, “I would never have done it if it were somebody who was hiding or fearful of it coming out. This person would have probably allowed me to say their name if I wanted, but I didn’t think it was necessary. People can use their own common sense and discovery to try to figure out who it may be, but that’s all I’ll say.”
So far, the only active player to publicly come out as gay was Carl Nassib in 2021. He played for the Raiders for two seasons. Nassib announced his retirement in September 2023. Peck did not confirm or deny to Variety if Nassib was the NFL star he made out with.
