Orioles predicted to sign $61 million All-Star, former Cy Young candidate ace to create 1-2-3 punch with Trevor Rogers, Kyle Bradish

The Baltimore Orioles have made some big splashes in this past offseason, but they didn’t really address their starting rotation. Sure, they got Shane Baz, but they didn’t get an All-Star caliber guy to fill out the front end.

FanSided’s Austin Owens predicts that the O’s will go out and get arguably the best pitcher on the market in Lucas Giolito. The former Cy Young candidate had a solid 2025, and could be the anchor in the middle of Baltimore’s rotation.

“The Baltimore Orioles had a more than disappointing 2025 season. With their talented young core, they expect to be back in the division race this upcoming campaign. Adding Giolito to their rotation would provide more depth and options for manager Craig Albernaz…From the business perspective, going to the Orioles would be a dream for Giolito. If Baltimore were willing to take a risk on Giolito, they would likely plug him in at the top of the rotation and give him a bigger contract than other teams in the league would offer. The Orioles have so much young talent solidified in their lineup that is locked up for years to come that it has opened the door for them to be aggressive in the free agent market in situations exactly like this one,” Owens wrote.

This past season, Giolito posted a 10-4 record, a 3.41 ERA, 121 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.290 over 145 innings pitched. He would be a good No. 3 pitcher behind Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish, and give the O’s a solid front end to their rotation.

Giolito’s market value calls for a three-year $61 million contract, and for all the teams that are interested in him, the Orioles are probably the most likely to give him what he wants, or at least close to it. It could end up being his final multi-year contract, and the O’s get the best years Giolito has left.

Hopefully, the O’s start talks with Giolito’s camp, just to see where they’re at with Opening Day almost here.
