Best remaining 2026 NFL free agents: Kyler Murray, Jauan Jennings and the top players still available at each position

NFL free agency had its typical frenzied start during the opening of the legal tampering period on Monday, March 9.. But with the new league year set to start, there are plenty of impactful unsigned veterans on the market as all 32 teams try to improve their rosters in the first wave of the 2026 offseason.

There is more money to be spent by several teams in the upcoming additional waves of deals. Here's looking at the top remaining free agents needing contracts for next season:

Quarterbacks

• Aaron Rodgers, Steelers
• Kirk Cousins, Falcons
• Joe Flacco, Bengals
• Russell Wilson, Giants
• Tyrod Taylor, Jets
• Jimmy Garoppolo, Rams
• Cooper Rush, Ravens

Rodgers is likely headed back to Pittsburgh, while Cousins is in play for teams such as the Jets and Browns.

Running backs

• Brian Robinson Jr., 49ers
• Najee Harris, Chargers

Robinson and Harris are two valuable complementary power backs.

Wide receivers

• Jauan Jennings, 49ers
• Deebo Samuel, Commanders
• Christian Kirk, Texans
• Keenan Allen, Chargers
• Stefon Diggs, Patriots

Jennings is expendable with the 49ers getting Mike Evans and is a valuable, versatile route-runner through the red zone. Samuel, Allen and Diggs are hoping to get one more shot after fading late in 2025.

Tight ends

• David Njoku, Browns
• Dallas Goedert, Eagles

There's not much left here with Njoku and Goedert battling age attrition.

Offensive tackles

• Rasheed Walker, Packers
• Rob Havenstein, Rams
• Jack Conklin, Browns

Walker was supposed to get more early attention from the Browns and other teams. Havenstein still has some left at age 33. 

Guards

• Joel Bitonio, Browns
• Kevin Zeitler, Titans
• Greg Van Roten, Giants
• Wyatt Teller, Browns

The centers, led by Tyler Linderbaum, got snatched by fast, sparked by a few teams needing immediate replacements. These guards are good plug-and-play options later.

Edge rushers

• Joey Bosa, Bills
• Arnold Ebiketie, Falcons
• Cameron Jordan, Saints
• Jadeveon Clowney, Cowboys

Bosa, Jordan and Clowney can still help as savvy all-around players.

Defensive tackles

• D.J. Reader, Lions
• Calais Campbell, Cardinals
• DaQuan Jones, Bills

Reader is the consistent run-stopper who will find a home. Campbell should still be in play for Jonathan Gannon and the Packers.

Linebackers

• Bobby Wagner, Commanders
• Logan Wilson, Cowboys
• Germaine Pratt, Colts

Wagner keeps playing at a high level and can keep helping Washington.

Cornerbacks

• Mike Hilton, Colts
• Rasul Douglas, Dolphins
• Marshon Lattimore, Commanders

The Seahawks re-signed Josh Jobe, and Riq Woolen moved to the Eagles. Hilton is still a good experienced slot. Douglas and Lattimore can still start as No. 2s.

Safeties

• Jaquan Brisker, Bears
• Jabrill Peppers, Steelers 
• C.J. Gardner-Johnson, Bears
• Andre Cisco, Jets
• Donovan Wilson, Cowboys

The Bears might be moving on with a new-look secondary led by the Seahawks' Coby Bryant.

Kickers

• Daniel Carlson, Raiders

Carlson might need to wait a bit with teams having a variety of options either on the roster, street, or draft.

Punters

• Riley Dixon, Buccaneers
• Bradley Pinion, Falcons

The punter market has been robust early, led by Jordan Stout and Ryan Wright.
