The Philadelphia Phillies won 95 games in 2024 and will have most of the same roster back in 2025 barring trades.
Philadelphia is a good team that should be able to contend in 2025. The Phillies failed to make a deep playoff run this year, but they have plenty of talent and definitely could in 2025, especially if they add a little more this winter.
The Phillies could use an upgrade in the outfield and because of this, MLB.com's staff predicted that Baltimore Orioles slugger Anthony Santander will end up signing with Philadelphia this winter.
"1. Phillies (17 percent), 2. (Kansas City Royals) (12 percent), 3. (New York Yankees) (10 percent)," MLB.com shared. "Our voters were all over the place in trying to predict Santander's future landing spot. A whopping 20 teams received at least one vote, and while the Phillies were ultimately mentioned the most, they didn't even crack 20 percent.
"Santander, who turned 30 in October, is coming off a huge year for the O's. He set career highs in home runs (44), RBIs (102), runs (91) and OPS (.814) while also earning his first career All-Star nod. And while 2024 was certainly the peak so far for Santander, he's still averaged 35 home runs and 95 RBIs per season over the past three years."
Santander would be a great fit for the Phillies. He had the best season of his career in 2024 and is just 30 years old. If he could recreate his 2024 season with the Phillies in 2025, that would take the club's offense to another level. His 44 home runs and 102 RBIs are just what the Phillies need.
