The NFL is wrapping up its Week 9 games, and the takeaways are rolling in. This is an important part of the season when the stakes just seem higher. Some teams are trying to get into that playoff bubble, while others are trying to keep their pristine records in place.
The NFL's reporting staff is out with its takeaways from the Week 9 games, and its reporters make some good points. Every one of the weekend's games introduced some interesting bits and pieces to the season's puzzle.
The Eagles' offensive line continues to be a major problem, leaving Joe Milton with little help as he tries to get the offense moving
When it comes to the Philadelphia Eagles, there's one glaring problem that just isn't getting fixed. That's the offensive line. The Eagles aren't giving their quarterbacks enough protection or opening enough holes for the running game. That's a problem even if Jalen Hurts was healthy and on the field. Right now, of course, the Eagles have Joe Milton heading up the quarterback position.
"Milton can't jump-start Eagles' offense. Philly's offense remains a slog, even with the athletic Joe Milton III under center," Kevin Patra of the NFL's website states.
He adds that Milton "added a few good runs, leading the Eagles with 64 yards on nine rushes" and "completed 18 of 32 passes for 169 yards." He also took seven sacks, though, and has an accuracy issue.
"As it has all season, offensive line issues have exacerbated the problems," Patra states. "There were very few open holes in the run game, and far too many free rushers at the QB. Saquon Barkley generated just 22 yards on 13 carries (1.7 yards per carry) with a TD. That's not enough to help a young QB in his first start."
So, it was a rough go for the Eagles. They have some soul-searching to do before the next game.
