Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown step up when the Detroit Lions need them most, helping the team escape Miami with an important win
The Detroit Lions have lots to be happy about after their dominant win over the Miami Dolphins.
Bobby Kownack of the NFL's official website notes that the best news out of this is how Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown came through when the Lions' offense was struggling. Gibbs finished with 74 rushing yards and a touchdown. St. Brown led Detroit with eight catches for 86 yards and made several important third-down plays.
Both stars helped Detroit escape with the win despite an unusually sluggish offensive performance.
While it was nerve-wracking to see this team struggle, and as Kownack says, "the Lions constantly stalled out, failing to score a touchdown until 1:20 remained in the third quarter," the ability of Gibbs and Brown to step it up when they needed to most is a huge asset for this team.
"Though Gibbs was frequently met by a pod of Dolphins in the backfield, he still broke off a number of clutch gainers, including the aforementioned 8-yard TD run," he adds. "He finished with a game-high 74 rushing yards. That was about it for offensive highlights, but it was enough."
