Oncologist who worked with Joe Biden said president should not choose White House doctor

An oncologist who once worked for former President Joe Biden has called for more oversight over the top White House physician gig after his old boss was diagnosed with cancer — insisting the role shouldn’t be handpicked by the commander-in-chief.

Dr Ezekiel Emanuel, who was part of Biden’s transition team, made the argument as speculation over a possible cover-up of the ex-prez’s new prostate cancer diagnosis continued to ramp up.

“We need an independent group of doctors — three doctors — not chosen by the president and not politicized,” Emanuel, who helped craft the Obama-era Affordable Care Act, told The Telegraph.

“We have a long history of where the illnesses of presidents have been hidden from the public,” he added.

Emanuel was among the leading medical experts who were quick to question how doctors could have missed Biden’s “aggressive” cancer, suggesting on Monday that the oldest-ever president very likely had the disease when he was still in the White House.

“He’s had this for many years, maybe even a decade, growing there and spreading,” he told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“He did not develop it in the last 100 to 200 days.

“He had it while he was president. He probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. Yes, I don’t think there’s any disagreement about that,” Emanuel added.

Dr. Kevin O’Connor, who was handpicked by Biden to be his official physician during his White House stint, repeatedly gave him a clean bill of health — despite his noticeable cognitive decline.

O’Connor — a longtime family friend — has been caring for the ex-president for more than a decade.

He was also a sounding board for the family when Biden’s eldest son, Beau, was diagnosed with brain cancer and was a one-time business associate of Biden’s younger brother, James.

His close relationship to the Biden clan has come under renewed scrutiny in the wake of the cancer diagnosis.

“He would do or say anything to cover up and protect that family, regardless of what it meant professionally for him,” Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) told The Post last month.

Biden’s office announced Sunday that he’d been diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer two days earlier.

The cancer, which was detected after doctors found a “small nodule” on his prostate during a medical exam earlier this month, had since spread to the bone, according to his spokesperson.
