The race for WNBA Rookie of the Year may not be much of a race right now.
According to ESPN's latest awards tracker, Minnesota Lynx guard Olivia Miles has separated herself from the rest of the rookie class and established herself as one of the league's biggest stars.
That's saying something considering the season is barely a month old.
The numbers continue to jump off the page
Miles has delivered in virtually every category. She leads all rookies in scoring, assists, steals and free-throw percentage while helping Minnesota sit atop the standings. ESPN's panel even described her Rookie of the Year case as unquestioned at this point in the season.
Those accomplishments would already make for a memorable rookie campaign. The bigger story is what they could lead to.

MVP conversations are becoming impossible to ignore
ESPN's MVP rankings listed Miles among the top contenders behind A'ja Wilson. Historically, that's extremely rare territory for a first-year player.
The only rookie ever to win WNBA MVP was Candace Parker. Miles is now generating conversations about whether she could become the second. That possibility has only grown because of Minnesota's remarkable record and her ability to impact every phase of the game.
The Lynx may have found their next superstar
An ESPN feature detailing Minnesota's success without Napheesa Collier revealed just how quickly Miles has earned trust within the organization. Head coach Cheryl Reeve praised her intelligence, adaptability and willingness to learn. Veterans have spoken about her like a longtime teammate rather than a rookie.
That level of respect isn't common. Neither is the production Miles has delivered. If this pace continues, the Rookie of the Year award may simply be the first accolade in what could become a historic debut season.
