Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss rips 'old coach' Lane Kiffin's leadership

1 hour ago 3

The Ole Miss Rebels football program has been on quite a roller-coaster ride since the start of last year. From Lane Kiffin taking the team to new heights before leaving for LSU to Dabo Swinney crying foul about tampering and quarterback Trinidad Chambliss fighting for eligibility, the entire timeline deserves a 30 for 30.

With the Rebels now settling in under Pete Golding, many are wondering what the future holds in Oxford. If there's any indication of what's to come for Ole Miss, Chambliss might've dropped a major hint during a recent press conference after spring practice.

One reporter asked Chambliss the difference between Kiffin and Golding, which led to more questions on the back end. The QB1 refused to refer to Kiffin by name, adding to the temperature in the room.

"The personalities are a little different," Chambliss said about comparing Kiffin to Golding. "Our old coach and, you know, coach Golding, I say he's more of a team guy and we really value his leadership. Whatever he says, he'll show you faster than I could tell you. He leads by his actions, and we really appreciate that."

Kiffin abruptly left Ole Miss for LSU in the midst of the Rebels College Football Playoff run last year. The longtime coach wanted to coach the team while assuming his new duties in Baton Rouge. However, Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter denied Kiffin from "double-dipping" for both SEC programs.

As for Chambliss, much of his offseason has been up in the air due to the ongoing eligibility battle with the NCAA in a Mississippi court. The former Ferris State transfer eventually won his suit and will be back on the field this season. After finishing eighth in the Heisman Trophy voting last year, Chambliss is expected to turn heads.

Ole Miss faces Kiffin and LSU on Sept. 19 in Oxford. The homecoming for the Tigers' new coach is expected to be emotional on both sides.
