Bronny James showcased his ever-improving game in the NBA G-League during the South Bay Lakers' win over the Wisconsin Herd, led by former NBA All-Star Victor Oladipo. James and Oladipo were matched up for most of the game, which was a part of the league's winter showcase.

James finished the game with 15 points and five assists for the Lakers, while Oladipo had 19 points, four rebounds, and three assists for the Herd.

Oladipo and Bronny's father LeBron James were once playoff rivals as the two played against each other during the 2017 and 2018 first-round series, where LeBron's Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Oladipo's Indiana Pacers for back-to-back seasons.

NBA fans were stunned by Bronny's performance against his father's former rival, with some noting that he needed to bring the same confidence when he plays with the main Lakers roster. Meanwhile, others gave unsolicited advice for Oladipo to give up on his NBA return.

Others believed that Bronny's impressive performance against Oladipo meant that it was time for the former Pacers star to call it a career.

Oladipo has not been in the lead since the 2022-2023 NBA season with the Miami Heat, where he appeared for 42 games. He has suffered from numerous knee injuries throughout his career.

Meanwhile, Bronny has only played 14 games so far in the NBA regular season, averaging 1.9 points and 1.5 assists per game. Bronny has since juggled G-League games and regular-season games.

Bronny James expresses point of improvement while in the G-League

Bronny James said improving his off-ball movements in the G-League would be key to earning him more minutes with the main roster. According to James, he is working hand in hand with Lakers head coach JJ Redick to make this a priority.

“I’m trying to focus now on bettering myself off the ball,” Bronny said. “Me and JJ (Redick) have talked about all the ball handlers on the parent team, so I have to learn how to be effective off the ball." "(I need to) have a .5 mentality, shoot the ball when I have open shots and try to get better at that," he added.

The Lakers boast aplenty of ball handlers, including Luka Doncic, LeBron James, and Austin Reaves, all of whom were key in the team's strong start to the season.

The Lakers are currently in the fourth spot in the Western Conference with a 19-8 record.
