Oklahoma Sooners basketball star Jeremiah Fears could be a contender to go No. 6 overall in the 2025 NBA draft to the Washington Wizards.

RG’s Grant Afseth reported Fears’ rising draft stock, noting that the Utah Jazz and Brooklyn Nets could also be in on the 18-year-old guard.

“The Washington Wizards hold picks No. 6 and 18 and have done extensive due diligence on backcourt prospects, sources tell RG. Jeremiah Fears is a name to watch if available when the Wizards are on the clock,” Afseth relayed.

“Fears has drawn top-five interest. The Utah Jazz are considered a potential landing spot at No. 5, depending on how the board shakes out. While Utah has young guards who have shown flashes, some around the league believe the front office remains unconvinced it has a long-term lead ball handler.

“The Brooklyn Nets, picking at No. 8, also have Fears on their radar and could explore moving up to get ahead of Washington.”

Washington is an ideal situation for a player in search of reps. The Wizards are nowhere close to contention, so Fears, who attempted over 12 shots per game in Norman, would be an ideal volume combo guard in the starting five or as a sixth man.

Utah may be an even better one. With Collin Sexton set to hit the free agent market in 2026, he may be an attractive expiring option that contenders could explore trades for this offseason.

Meanwhile, the Nets are still figuring out their identity in the post-Kevin Durant/Kyrie Irving era. It’s unclear what Brooklyn will look like next season just yet, but a Cam Johnson trade is a near-certainty.

Fears will be a hot commodity regardless of where he ends up in a little over a week’s time.
