Playoff football in Oklahoma is finally taking place this week.
Twelve gold balls will be awarded next month as teams officially start a journey that each squad hopes comes to an end at Chad Richison Stadium in Edmond on the University of Central Oklahoma campus, the site of all the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association title contests.
One team favored to return to Edmond is Bixby, which has won seven straight state titles, the last three after moving up to Class 6A-I. The Spartans are rolling once again, entering the postseason at 10-0 and ranked No. 22 in the recent edition of The Sporting News Top 25 national rankings.
Another school expected to repeat is Midwest City Carl Albert, which has won the Class 5A title each of the past three seasons. The Titans enter the postseason on a 49-game win streak, dating back to 2022.
We’ll update the brackets here each week for Oklahoma’s top three classifications as the playoffs get under way.
