With the 2024-25 NBA season approaching All-Star weekend and the halfway mark of the season, experts and analysts have begun taking new looks at the likely award and title winners for when the season finalizes.

When it comes to the Oklahoma City Thunder and how they fit in certain forecasts, one such organization has them dethroning the reigning NBA champions.

OKC tops Boston as favorites to win NBA Finals

In a recent study conducted by 'Polymarket Sports', they found that for the first time this NBA season, the Boston Celtics do not have the highest odds to win the NBA title, but rather the OKC Thunder.

With the Celtics losing four of their last ten games since the start of the new year, they have not appeared as dominant as they were just a season prior. And with the Thunder boasting the best record out West as well as the best net-rating and defensive rating the league, various experts have determined OKC is the team to beat.

Following OKC and Boston, the other teams with the next best title odds consist of the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

So far this season, out of all of those three teams, Oklahoma City has gone 4-1, with their only loss coming against Cleveland by seven points. In their wins, the Thunder have outscored those opponents 482-414 and held the defending champions to only 92 total points.

All of this, of course, without their star center in Chet Holmgren and meaningful time missed from players like Isaiah Hartenstein, Alex Caruso, Jaylin Williams, and others.

If OKC is able to keep up their dominant pace and seamlessly integrate Holmgren back in the lineup once healthy, very few teams will be able to stand a chance.
