OKC Thunder finally have full, incredible return for Paul George trade

2 hours ago 3

The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off one of the greatest trades of all time when they sent Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers.

That deal took place in 2019, and OKC is still reaping the rewards of it in new draft picks.

The trade at the time sent George to the Clippers in exchange for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, four unprotected first-round picks, one protected first-round pick and two pick swaps.

Just sending PG13 for SGA would've turned into a massive win. But it was much more.

The Thunder got Jalen Williams with one of those picks, and he's one of the top right-hand men in the NBA.

They got a couple other past draft picks, Thomas Sorber and Brooks Barnhizer.

On Tuesday night, the Thunder added even more when they picked the 7-foot-4 Aday Mara out of Michigan with the No. 12 overall pick of the 2026 NBA Draft.

They actually still have one more pick: a 2027 Spurs protected first-rounder.

It's the craziest haul in a long time.

So, if I have this right, in the final accounting, the Thunder turned Paul George into SGA, Jalen Williams, Thomas Sorber, Brooks Barnhizer, Aday Mara and a protected Spurs 2027 first-round pick?

George didn't accomplish a ton in Oklahoma City, but then he didn't do as much as the Clippers would've liked, either.

Meanwhile, the Thunder have a title led by SGA and Williams and could chase more.

Oklahoma City achieved greatness thanks to this one trade. It'll go down in history for sure.
