We're starting to see some blockbuster deals go down around the NBA, and it should only be a matter of time before we see a couple more.
One player who makes a ton of sense to move on from the New Orleans Pelicans is Dejounte Murray, a guard who has proven throughout parts of his career that he can be among the elite in the NBA, though the past few years have been filled with some injuries and rather average play for his standards.
One Bleacher Report writer believes he could fit with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets, who are both looking to add more talent during the offseason.
“Although not a great three-point shooter, Murray is a big guard (6'4" with a 6'10" wingspan) who can attack, rebound, make plays and defend at a high level. He's not the shooting guard that the Hawks tried to make him alongside Trae Young and should be operating with the ball in his hands. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Houston Rockets would both be intriguing fits for Murray, who's owed $32.8 million this season with a $30.8 million player option in 2027-28,” Greg Swartz of BR wrote.
I'm with Swartz that he's a bit expensive for the production we see. He played in only 14 games during the 2025-26 season because of that injury, but it wasn't serious.
He shot 48.4% from the field and averaged 16.7 points, bringing in 5.4 rebounds and dishing out 6.4 assists per game. His three-point shot has never been much of anything outside of the 2023-24 season, though, so he's not exactly the cleanest fit on certain contending teams that want to get out and hit open shots at a high level from behind the arc.
