Ohtani deemed more valuable than Judge in recent ESPN discussion piece

1 hour ago 3

Major League Baseball has put both New York Yankees outfielder, Aaron Judge, and Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star, Shohei Ohtani, on a pedestal that is very hard to reach. These two players are not only the most valuable players on their respective teams, but also are back-to-back MVP's of their entire respective league.

Ohtani has taken home two-straight National League MVP's and Judge has represented the American League side in back-to-back years as well. But, if you were to put them against each other in terms of who is better, who would it be?

This is a very interesting question, and breaking it down by stats and analytics, ESPN writer David Schoenfield has deemed the Dodgers superstar as the better of the two Goliath's. And, even with the eye-test, that is pretty clear as well.

Ohtani obviously has the edge with his expertise from the mound, but the gap at the plate is nearly identical to each other. Over the last two seasons, Judge has a narrow lead in home runs with 111 to 109, and in Runs Batted In with a lead of 258 to 232 over Ohtani.

But, there is also another concept to discuss, which is that the Dodgers have taken the World Series both years. Ohtani has been a pivotal part of his team's identity, and there is no denying that he changes the game in many facets. Many have predicted that No. 17 will have a solid chance to get a nomination for the NL Cy Young this year, as well.

Judge has that same effect with the Yankees, but the Captain has yet to get his squad to their ultimate goal. Game, set, match, Ohtani.
