Ohio State Buckeyes football commit Jamier Brown wins 3 state track championships for Big Walnut

It wasn't even a given that Jamier Brown would be able to compete at the Ohio state track & field championships after transferring from Huber Heights Wayne to Big Walnut while mired in headlines about his desire to bring NIL to high school in the OHSAA.

But this weekend, Brown was indeed out there representing Big Walnut at the state track meet, and he shone about as bright as can be. He'll be a wide receiver on the football field as a member of Ohio State's Class of 2027, but for the time being, the future Buckeyes star showed he can get it done on the track, too.

Brown won three state championships in Division 2 -- the second-largest division in Ohio out of five, after the association expanded track from three divisions to five for the first time this season.

His action started in the 100-meter dash.

Brown ran that race in 10.42 seconds to win by nine-hundredths of a second over Toledo Scott's WT Young III.

As an individual, Brown also won the 200-meter dash. He ran it in 20.91 seconds, the fastest time in Ohio this year, to hold off Aurora's Luke McGovern (21.06).

Brown was then part of the victorious Big Walnut 4x100-meter relay which put up a 41.53 seconds. They barely edged Lima Shawnee (41.57) and Fremont Ross (41.63) in a race that had five teams finish within two-tenths of a second of one another.

The only less-than-perfect part of Brown's weekend was the 4x400, in which Big Walnut finished 16th.

This very well could be the final state track meet for Brown, who would likely be expected to enroll early at OSU for the 2027 spring semester after playing his final season of high school football this fall.

If this was it, Brown sure made to go out on top of the podium.
