SAN ANTONIO — OG Anunoby was wide open. Tom Crean, his former college coach, recognized it immediately. 

After Anunoby threw the inbounds pass with 5.7 seconds remaining, the Spurs quickly double-teamed the ball handler, Jalen Brunson. 

It was a predictable sequence. The clock was running low and everybody in that arena, the Spurs included, knew Brunson was New York’s preferred option. He’s earned that right as Captain Clutch. 

But it also meant Anunoby, the hottest jump shooter of the 2026 Finals, was alone on the perimeter.
