Oddsmaker chooses best Blue Jays fit from Alex Bregman, Bo Bichette, Cody Bellinger and Kyle Tucker

Sports oddsmaker and analyst Todd Fuhrman argues that outfielder Kyle Tucker stands out as the best free agent linked to the Toronto Blue Jays. Fuhrman believes Tucker has the biggest upside to elevate the Blue Jays.

Fuhrman is a former Caesar's Sportsbook oddsmaker and respected Vegas insider. He shared his perspective on Thursday's episode of "Toronto Sports Rush."

Co-host Kyle Andrew asked Fuhrman to pick the best fit for the Blue Jays among Tucker, Alex Bregman, Cody Bellinger and Bo Bichette if he were the team's general manager.

"I think Kyle Tucker has the highest ceiling in terms of being that big bat that you want to lean into," Fuhrman said (Timestamp: 1:13). "So much is made about trying to retain homegrown talent, but at some point you have to figure out which is the guy that is going to take you from point A to point B."

The oddsmaker said progress in MLB is rarely linear, citing the Blue Jays' success in 2025 after a disappointing 2024 season. He also said the Jays will have a target on their back due to the success, and big additions are thus necessary.

"I think Kyle Tucker would be an excellent addition if you can plug him in on a game-in, game-out basis, anywhere from one to three in that lineup," he added." He gives you an extra big force that teams have to contend with when it comes to grinding out 27 outs against the Jays all summer long."

Tucker is a four-time MLB All-Star. The 28-year-old slugger played for the Houston Astros from 2018 to 2024. The Astros traded him to the Chicago Cubs before last season. He earned an All-Star selection and won the Silver Slugger award with the Cubs.

Analyst points out why Kyle Tucker is still unsigned

Baseball content creator and coach Jake Savicki isn't surprised by the free agent status of Kyle Tucker and other top stars. Savicki believes Alex Bregman, Cody Bellinger and Bo Bichette won't sign anytime soon due to them having Scott Boras as their agent.

However, the reason is different for Tucker. Savicki shared his perspective on the matter on his "Hold My Ball" podcast.

"But then you get a Kyle Tucker, who’s not with Boras, but he’s also the highest-touted free agent of the class and he’s going to get his bag. So money plays into it. Obviously, that’s the main thing that plays into it," Savicki said.

Spotrac projects a 10-year, $401,794,710 contract for Tucker. While he will be looking for a contract around that range, the possibility of a shorter contract with a higher average annual value is there.
