NYPD officer accidentally shoots gun on subway station, striking another cop and bystander with bullet fragments

An NYPD officer accidentally fired her service weapon in a Brooklyn subway station Thursday afternoon — and bullet fragments struck another cop and a bystander, authorities said.

The accidental discharge occured at about 4:40 p.m. inside the Kingston-Throop Avenue station in Bedford-Stuyvesant and sent all three people involved in the shooting to the hospital, the NYPD said.

A male officer and a 34-year-old woman inside in the station were struck by bullet fragments, police said.

The officer whose gun went off and the cop and bystander who were hit were hospitalized in stable condition. All three have since been released.

Both officers were placed on modified duty and the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is probing the shooting.
