A classic American football rivalry between Notre Dame and Army returns on Nov. 23. The programs will face off for the first time since 2016 at Yankee Stadium in New York.
The game is far from an annual meeting now, facing off for just the fourth time since 1998, but that doesn't lessen the stakes. Especially this season as the top-20 ranked teams battle for a spot in the CFP.
The Black Knights remain undefeated, needing just one more win against UTSA to stay perfect in the AAC and secure a spot in the conference title game. Should they finish out the season this way, with a win over the Fighting Irish, Army has just about secured its spot in the CFP. If it falls in one of those games, though, its playoff chances may be over.
The same goes for Notre Dame, though. Not in a conference, the Irish must finish with a strong record if it wants an at-large berth to the 12-team bracket. A victory over a ranked Army may just be good enough to do so.
