A North Carolina cop was fired and arrested for tossing his body camera into a lake to cover up having sex inside a patrol car, according to authorities.
Lake Royale Police Department officer Samuel Marcum was arrested on Wednesday after an internal investigation revealed he tried to lie about the romp, according to court records obtained by The Post.
Lake Royale Police Department officer Samuel Marcum was fired and arrested for tossing his body camera into a lake to cover up having sex with his girlfriend inside a patrol car. Franklin CountyMarcum, 34, was allegedly on duty when he tossed his body camera into Lake Royale in late January after fooling around with his girlfriend in his marked patrol car, an arrest warrant detailed.
The raunchy cop initially provided a false report to his fellow officers, telling them that he lost his $200 body camera during an ice storm, the filing alleged.
Marcum then provided a written statement on June 6 admitting to the rendezvous and throwing the camera away for fear of disciplinary consequences, police said.
“As a result of the findings, Officer Marcum’s employment with the Lake Royale Company Police Department was terminated,” the Lake Royale Police Department said in a statement.
He was subsequently charged in Franklin County with obstruction of justice, making false official statements, injury to personal property, and conduct unbecoming of a police officer, cops said.
Marcum was released after posting a $20,000 bond, court records showed.
“The Lake Royale Company Police Department recognizes that the public places significant trust in its officers,” the department said.
“Maintaining that trust requires a steadfast commitment to professionalism, integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct.”
