'Nobody cares': Oregon football sets record in 84-point win over Portland State

What a difference a week can make for the Oregon Ducks.

After falling 39-31 to the Oklahoma State Cowboys last week, Dan Lanning's team bounced back with a historic 84-0 win over the Portland State Vikings. It was the most points in the Ducks' modern history, and the largest margin of victory ever inside Autzen Stadium.

From a massive low to an unbelievable high, Oregon's fan base is riding a roller-coaster of epic proportions. Just a week ago, the Ducks suffered arguably the worst loss of the Lanning era. Now they regained a bit of steam before Big Ten play.

"We have a better team, and no disrespect for Portland State, but that's the way it should look when we execute the way we should execute," Lanning said after the game on Friday night.

While Lanning is right, Oregon fans aren't fully back on the train yet. Some of the comments online after the Ducks' 84-point win painted two pictures. One of over-excitement from a predictable win and another of being stuck in the feelings from last week. 

"Nobody cares," one fan wrote. "They just beat an FCS team by 84 but can't win when it matters. Welcome to the Dan Lanning experiment." Another was more optimistic, saying, "A great way to shutout. Win The Day." Just a sample size of the Oregon fan base right now.

While the win can't take away Oregon's loss, which could discourage the College Football Playoff committee from giving the Ducks a spot in the final 12. This was a warm-up for next week's Big Ten opener against the USC Trojans. But Lanning and his team needed this one to shake off Oklahoma State.

One bright spot was getting to see Dylan Raiola back on the field, and for the first time in an Oregon uniform. The Nebraska transfer looked outstanding on Friday night, providing a preview of what's to come after Dante Moore leaves for the NFL. He completed 11-of-11 passes for 124 yards and three touchdowns.

Oregon faces No. 12 USC next week in prime time (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC).
