A recently promoted college dean who volunteered with local youth groups allegedly paid a teenage boy for sex — and was busted when he was lured to the victim’s New Jersey home on Friday.
James Hadley, 65, had a bottle of lubricant and $200 when he tried to slip inside his victim’s Pleasantville home on Friday, according to an affidavit obtained by BreakingAC.
Hadley and the 13-year-old boy had at least two earlier encounters where the disgraced professor paid him $200 for sex, as referenced in encrypted messages the pair exchanged, the affidavit said.

From there, detectives started impersonating the victim in messages to Hadley, eventually luring him back to the Pleasantville home where he was apprehended less than a day later, according to the affidavit.
“Other than our quick attempt the other day, I have never been f—-ed,” Hadley allegedly wrote to the teen. “OK, I can’t wait to see your beautiful body completely naked.”
In another message, Hadley admitted he knew the age of consent in New Jersey was 16.
Hadley is a well-known volunteer with several youth groups in Ocean County.
Hadley was arrested at his victim’s home in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Christopher SadowskiThe director of the Barnegat Basketball Club confirmed that Hadley was involved with the organization for decades and was swiftly terminated after his arrest, CBS News Philadelphia reported.
Hadley served on the Barnegat Little League’s board until 2022. He also had a short stint with the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal and Northern New Jersey for seven months in 2019, the outlet reported.
Most recently, Hadley was named the dean at Ocean County College’s School of Business and Social Sciences, according to an announcement on his LinkedIn.
He is also an adjunct professor in Kean University’s accounting and finance department, according to a since-deleted biography on the school’s website.
Hadley is charged with luring a minor, sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, and criminal sexual contact.
He was denied release on Wednesday and is set to appear in court again on April 24.
