The Cleveland Browns have been one of the most intriguing teams to watch during training camp, with ongoing questions surrounding how the quarterback room will ultimately shake out. On Friday, rookie Shedeur Sanders got his opportunity to start in the Browns' preseason opener. That same morning, his father, Deion Sanders, shared a powerful message about opportunity.
“We all have needs & we all desire Opportunity! If given opportunity u may not be where u are now. Opportunity is like the dream we had when we were younger. We must be prepared for the opportunity we're praying for. The right opportunity will change your life,” Sanders posted.
It’s safe to say Shedeur made the most of his opportunity. The rookie played three quarters and posted some impressive numbers.
“Sanders had 138 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, as well as picking up 19 rushing yards on four attempts. Sanders completed 14 of his 23 passes,” wrote ClevelandBrowns.com’s Noah Monroe.
Former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert also weighed in, praising Sanders for his poise and command on the field.
“Starters came out by this point, but before this he still looked calm and in command. Was taking with the defense gave him, was on time and accurate,” Benkert wrote. “Had a few plays he wished that he had back but he’s playing with third and fourth string guys against 1’s and 2’s. Solid.”

After the game, Nike dropped a new ad featuring Sanders — a move that felt like a warning shot to the rest of the NFL.

— Front Office Sports (@FOS) August 9, 2025The ad reflects the growing excitement surrounding Sanders. He’s on a mission to prove that he fell too far in the draft and that he has what it takes to become a top-tier quarterback in the NFL. His first showing was strong, but he'll need to continue proving himself with each new opportunity.
The new Nike ad is not just motivational for Sanders — it's a statement. And for the rest of the league, it might be considered a warning.
