Nick Sirianni remains mum regarding Eagles' backup quarterback situation

We already know who the starting quarterback will be for the Philadelphia Eagles heading into the 2026 NFL season. That honor goes to Jalen Hurts. 

It will the sixth straight season as the starter in Philadelphia for Hurts, who already has two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl victory under his belt.

But, we still don't know what the backup quarterback will be for the Eagles. Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee are both competing for the spot, and just days ahead of Philly's season opener against the Washington Commanders, head coach Nick Sirianni still declined to name a backup. He cited competitive reasons for the lack of clarity. 

“We don’t have to make that decision quite yet or announce that decision for competitive reasons. I don’t want them to study one guy over the other," Sirianni said. 

"I’m not saying we don’t have an answer of who that is yet, but I don’t just have to share that quite yet publicly.”
