The Philadelphia Eagles have a major problem with their kicker, Jake Elliott.
Elliott has struggled mightily this season, missing seven field goals and one extra point through 15 games.
In Week 16 against the Washington Commanders, Elliott missed two field goals in the first half, and one of those misses was preceded by a miss that was negated because of a penalty.
“Just frustrating, man,” Elliott said after his Week 16 showing. “I felt like I had a really good pre-game, striking the ball really well. First one, just got a little quick on. Second one, I actually felt like I hit pretty good and wind kind of just took it late, but just got to play it a little bit more and know that it’s going to happen.”
While many Eagles fans are calling for change amid Elliott's struggles, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said the team is sticking with the veteran kicker and won't even bring in competition for him.
"Sirianni said he believes in Elliott’s process. He said that he has confidence in him being able to bounce back, like he did last season," Anthony DiBona of The Philly Special podcast reported. "He also said that the Eagles won’t add a kicker."
Elliott's struggles are nothing new, as he missed a career-high eight field goals in 2024.
But Elliott did manage to rebound in the playoffs, making 10-of-11 kicks, including four in the Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
While that's all well and good, Eagles fans are still going to be biting their nails any time Elliott steps up to kick a field goal in the playoffs.
