Nick Saban reveals 2 standout teams that impressed him the most in 2025, and it's not Kalen DeBoer's Alabama

Alabama legend Nick Saban has worked as an analyst since his retirement from coaching in 2024. Saban won six of his seven national championships with Bama, so the Crimson Tide certainly holds a special place in his heart.

However, Saban sees two teams as standouts in 2025, and Alabama isn't one of them. While speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Saban said,

"I would say the two teams at this point in the season that's kind of separated themselves from the pack, to me, are Ohio State and Texas A&M."

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the defending national champions, while the Texas A&M Aggies are yet to lose a game in 2025. Both sides are at the top of the Big Ten and SEC, respectively.

Nick Saban's job description involves being unbiased, and the Bama legend has done just that by praising two of his former side's biggest rivals in their national championship quest.

Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M are firmly in the playoff picture

The Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Texas A&M Aggies have their playoff dreams in their hands. All three teams are headed for the playoffs, barring a stunning collapse in the later stages of the regular season.

The Crimson Tide has lost just one game all season. That occurred in Week 1 against the Florida State Seminoles, but they've been flawless ever since.

Kalen DeBoer's Alabama had arguably the toughest five-game stretch in all of college football, and they came out with five wins. Those wins were against Georgia, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Tennessee, and South Carolina. Up next is a showdown against the LSU Tigers.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are the No. 1-ranked team in the nation. The defending national champs haven't lost a game all season, and they've recorded regular blowouts against tricky opponents. Ryan Day's side will be hard to knock off in the business end of the season as they look to record back-to-back national titles.

The Texas A&M Aggies are one of the biggest stories of 2025. The Mike Elko-coached side is unbeaten, and they've posted wins over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Florida Gators, and contributed to Brian Kelly's firing at LSU. Next up for the Aggies is a matchup against the No. 19-ranked Missouri Tigers.
