American skier Nick Goepper was involved in a crash during the men's slopestyle event on Friday. The event has competitors skiing down a slope, then up its steep sides, performing twists and flips for points, and landing back on the slope before continuing downhill.
Goepper fell on his first run but scored an 89 on his second, good enough for third place. He attempted a third run to contend for a medal but suffered a serious-looking fall during that final run.
Here are the latest injury updates for Goepper.

Nick Goepper injury updates
Goepper's crash was one of the most serious-looking accidents at the 2026 Olympics. His back hit the slope in a way that could have caused severe injury. Luckily, he looks to have avoided the worst-case scenario.
After staying down to catch his breath, Goepper was able to get up. He walked off under his own power, with his arm around a helper's shoulder, and acknowledged the crowd to let them know he was okay.
Nick Goepper crash
Goepper was in a halfpipe run. It looked like he was hitting his tricks with precision, but then he went up the right halfpipe backwards, and he didn't move in the air far enough away from the slope, and he crashed into the top of the halfpipe. The way that he was spinning, he landed directly on his back, and his body bent around the edge of the half pipe.
Goepper's body bounced off the top of the half pipe, and he slid down the slope. It was about as scary of a landing as you can see in the event, but he was able to walk off under his own power.
