The Philadelphia Phillies won the series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, thanks in part to Nick Castellanos coming off the bench and hitting a game-breaking home run.
But, after the game, he had some interviews with the broadcast booth and reporters in the clubhouse that sparked some unsavory comments from Phillies fans. Castellanos criticized Rob Thomson over "questionable" communication and was blunt when asked about his lack of playing time lately.
After those interviews, Jess Castellanos, Nick's wife, went to Twitter/X and shared a message for Phillies fans. She called them out and also urged them to focus on the postseason instead of critiquing Nick amid his postgame comments.
Jess Castellanos defends Nick Castellanos amid fan backlash
"I know everyone wants to find a problem with Nick or bait him into a problem, but it's time to get over it." Jess Castellanos shared on social media. "Focus on the postseason and winning baseball games and stop crying about the pieces you have to get the job done and root for them to do well instead."

Her comments came after a controversial postgame interview, where Castellanos was barraged with questions about being in a lesser role. Any player would feel awkward and defensive in such a situation.
But, since Castellanos has previously been at the center of some Phillies controversies, his comments only riled up frustrated Phillies fans more.
Earlier in the year, he was benched for comments he made to Rob Thomson after being pulled for a defensive substitution. They both put it behind them, as they were in the middle of a tight race with the New York Mets at the time.
But now, after clinching the NL East and looking to cement a first-round bye and a potential number one seed, these comments and frustrations from Castellanos sparked Phillies fans to clap back at the $100 million outfielder.

Jess, amid those critiques from Phillies fans, clapped right back and called for Phillies fans to instead look ahead to the postseason, as this year is one of the best chances the team has at winning the World Series.
Castellanos needs to embrace this platoon role, especially since it's worked well between him and Max Kepler starting in right field.
With some players potentially leaving in free agency and others getting older, the 2025 Phillies might be one of the best chances for the Phillies to win their third World Series.
The Phillies are going to need Castellanos this October, especially against left-handed pitchers. While Phillies fans can be frustrated with the play of Castellanos at times, as Jess points out, the fanbase still needs to cheer on the Phillies slugger, as he's an important piece of the team heading into the 2025 postseason.
