Nicholas Hoult Is Proud of "Darker" Take on "X-Men"
A dramatic hair change was on Nicholas Hoult’s menu.
The Menu star traded in his signature brown locks for a shocking blonde tapered cut, debuting the look on Jimmy Kimmel Live! alongside Superman costar David Corenswet on June 25.
As for the reveal itself, he kept it quite simple sharing pics with David and Kimmel guest host Diego Luna on social media, before giving an inside look at the bleached cut with a shoutout to his stylists along with, “Blonde now.”
After all, Nicholas is no stranger to a hair transformation. In fact, his new Superman Role sees him play the famously bald Lex Luthor. And as the dad of two revealed, he was lucky enough to get some assistance from inside his home as he got into character as the DC Comics villain.
“I shaved my head once for Mad Max but this time I let my older son do it,” he revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! “I gave him the clippers and just said ‘Go on, have at it’. No, it was fun for him. It was like a little DIY project at home.”
Indeed, the X-Men alum had a first-class time with his sons—Joaquin, 6, and a baby boy who he shares with wife, Bryana Holly—whom he brought to the Superman set. Although Nicholas admitted that David really stole the show.
“My son was in complete awe,” he told the Hollywood alum an interview with Fandango published June 11. “It was magic to see his face seeing you [in the Superman suit].”

But while his kids got a glimpse of his Hollywood life while he filmed Superman—out July 8—most days Nicholas’ family keeps up with a quieter life. One that includes fun family traditions
“I play this really silly game where you have to roll dice,” he told E! News in November, “and when someone gets a six, they have to put on over gloves, a hat, a scarf, and then grab a knife and fork and try and eat the chocolate bar, and eat as much as they can of the chocolate bar before the next person in the circle rolls a six. It’s a fun game.”

Building a Life
The Great star previously shared insight into how his upbringing ultimately shaped aspects of his relationship with Bryana, including smaller moments like sharing a space together.
“I don’t feel as though I’m that possessive over things like that,” Nicholas told The Journal in November 2017. “She can put her stuff wherever she likes. My dad was an air pilot so he was flying a lot, and I grew up with my two sisters and my mum so I was used to ‘girl things’ being around and a ‘girl environment’ in the household.”
