NFL insider thinks Chiefs, Broncos and Texans could battle over Seahawks free agent

One of the Seattle Seahawks' pending free agents could be among the most coveted at his position this offseason and the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans and Denver Broncos may all have interest.

Those three teams were mentioned as potential suitors for Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker by Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

To be clear, this appears to be Breer speculating, but the Chiefs, Broncos and Texans are all logical candidates to pursue Walker.

"Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III’s situation with the Seahawks remains an interesting one," Breer wrote. "Presuming the Seahawks decline to tag Walker, the Chiefs loom as an interesting suitor."

"Maybe Walker, who might pair nicely with a high draft pick like Ohio State’s Carnell Tate coming in at the receiver spot, would be one too for the Chiefs. I’d also assume a few other teams, like the Broncos and Texans, might also see it that way," he added.

The Chiefs have a pair of running backs set to hit the free-agent market in Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco, neither of whom was very effective last season.

Safe to say, Kansas City will be looking for an upgrade, and general manager Brett Veach has pretty much confirmed the team will be looking for one after stressing the Chiefs' need to get more explosive on the ground.

“Certainly, we want to get more explosive in the running game,” Veach said. “The running game takes a lot of pressure off everybody. So, I think if we can be more explosive and effective in the running game, we can take a lot of pressure off Pat, especially coming back early in the season with the injury.”

Walker would check that box for Kansas City.

Meanwhile, the Broncos have a question mark at running back in J.K. Dobbins, who is a pending free agent. If Dobbins isn't brought back, Denver must bring in more help for RJ Harvey.

The Texans appear destined to cut Joe Mixon this offseason after he missed all of 2025 with a foot injury, and a recent report suggests Houston will be in the market for one of the top running backs in free agency.

That's because a young running backs room that includes Woody Marks and Jawhar Jordan needs a veteran infusion.
