Kevin Stefanski reveals true feelings on Shedeur Sanders after Browns firing

1 hour ago 2

In the end, Kevin Stefanski couldn't keep his job with the Cleveland Browns. A continued mess at quarterback contributed to his dismissal after the season, and now he's the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.

It's fair to wonder if Stefanski will finally tell the NFL world how he really feels about Shedeur Sanders.

There was speculation by some Sanders fans early in his rookie season that Stefanski was doing everything he could do to avoid playing Sanders.

In reality, that's not what was happening, but it was a loud narrative that people could get behind.

Stefasnki actually doesn't hate Sanders, though.

He joined Pardon My Take on Friday and was asked about Sanders and gave a heartfelt answer.

“I love Shedeur," Stefanski said. "I loved coaching him, seriously. He’s got the right makeup for this game, he was wired the right way. I wish that we won more obviously, but if you saw how he played down the stretch, I mean he’s a young player that’s getting better.”

Sanders took over for fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, summing up the oddity of the task Stefanski had. The Browns drafted Gabriel in the third round, then Sanders in the fifth. They also began the season with veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett.

Really, there was no perfect answer for Stefanski. He just did his best to navigate an odd situation.

In the end, Sanders outlasted Stefanski, who will try to make good things happen in Atlanta with young QB Michael Penix Jr. In Cleveland, Sanders will hope to continue on the upswing that Stefanski suggests he's on.
