The Las Vegas Raiders are on cloud nine right now, following a 3-0 start to the season, and a lot of that success has to do with quarterback Kirk Cousins. This team didn't even win more than three games for the entire season last year, so it's obvious that having a veteran quarterback like Cousins on the squad, leading the offense, is making a difference.
So, there's a lot of excitement surrounding the Raiders as they head into their Week 4 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Both teams are undefeated, and only one will walk out with that title, unless there's a tie.
Now, one NFL player is getting handed a punishment for his actions against Kirk Cousins in the team's Week 3 game against the New Orleans Saints.
Saints linebacker gets fined for hit on Kirk Cousins
As the season rolls along, every weekend, the league hands out punishments in the form of fines to players who go against the rules in the games the weekend prior. "The rules are intended to protect the players from unnecessary risk," the NFL explains on its official website, "promote player safety and emphasize sportsmanship and respect of teammates, opponents, coaches, officials and fans."
Ahead of the Week 4 games, the NFL gave a Saints player a punishment for a play against Cousins.
Saints linebacker Danny Stutsman was fined $7,011 for a hit on the quarterback during the second quarter of the game. The penalty, which came with 5:54 remaining in the quarter, was classified as a body-weight violation, and it resulted in the financial punishment from the league.
So, the moral of the story here is, don't mess with Cousins. Now, Cousins and the Raiders will face a strong Chiefs team, which will make it an extra challenge for them to keep their undefeated status.
