New York Mets’ Sean Manaea speaks on concerning velocity drop in Spring Training

1 hour ago 2

Velocity is always a topic in Spring Training and New York Mets left-hander Sean Manaea is the culprit of that. Early in camp, some have noticed a slight dip in his fastball velocity, which became a talking point among fans.

However, teams are more worried about health and mechanics over velo during this time of the year. Many pitchers are just worried about staying on the bump.

That appears to be the case with Manaea.

While the velo may be down, the Mets are focused on how the veteran feels physically as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Skipper Carlos Mendoza addressed the concerns and made it clear that the organization isn’t worried about his velo, as long as Manaea continues to say that he feels good.

“I know it’s going to be a topic here, but I am not concerned as long as he keeps telling us he’s healthy,” Mendoza said, per Mike Puma of the Post. “And that is what he keeps telling us, that he feels great.”

Manaea will need to be as good as ever for the Mets in 2026. The pitching staff, if any part of the roster has questions, is the focus. If the Mets can get outs at a high level, they’ll be fine. Manaea will be an important part of that.
