“Toxic Mom Group: The Movie”?
After former Disney star Ashley Tisdale’s piece for the Cut, “Breaking Up With My Toxic Mom Group,” went viral, Hollywood studios are circling the project to turn into a film, Page Six has learned.
A source tells us, “There’s a s - - tload of interest” in a film version, and studios as well as “big stars with production companies” have been approaching Tisdale’s camp about bringing the viral essay to the screen.
Said one insider, “It’s relatable to everyone.”
The onetime “High School Musical” star — who’s now a 40-year-old married mother of two — caused a sensation when she penned the “Toxic” piece for New York magazine’s fashion outlet early this month, revealing she’d fled a mom group that left her feeling “not cool enough.”
She described “sitting alone one night after getting my daughter to bed . . . feeling totally lost as to what I was doing ‘wrong’ to be left out.”
The piece has become the talk of Hollywood, as fans — as well as LA insiders — haven’t been able to get enough. Hollywood watchers connected the dots and believe that the group in question includes famous members like Hilary Duff, Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore.
Duff’s husband, musician Matthew Koma, even got in on the act to defend his wife — and diss Tisdale, surreptitiously calling her “the most self-obsessed tone-deaf person on Earth.”
Meanwhile, Duff’s own famous, and estranged, sister, Haylie, seemed to back Tisdale, amid theories both women are MAGA supporters.
Nevertheless, sources close to Tisdale insisted that the social media mavens have got it all wrong — and that the celebs were not part of the group she wrote about.
As far as the film, it’s now just an issue of timing.
Reps for Tisdale did not comment.
