Despite a failed trade with the Baltimore Ravens, speculation surrounding Maxx Crosby hasn’t gone away. However, now, if a deal is going to happen, it doesn't seem likely to happen in the near future.
Despite rumors about the Las Vegas Raiders potentially moving the star edge rusher, the timing of a move would be next year now, according to the latest.
Per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, any trade scenario likely requires Crosby to reestablish his value before teams seriously trade for him.
“If he’s going to be traded, I think it’s going to have to come after Maxx Crosby gets back on the field and plays really well,” Breer said on The MMQB NFL Podcast, “so people will forget about everything that just happened.”
After he apparently failed his physical with the Ravens, some have now questioned how healthy Crosby actually is. Everybody knew that he underwent a procedure earlier in the offseason, so it's tough to blame him too much for things not looking great, but it's also fair to mention that some don't believe the Ravens did that in good faith.
While that's fair and true in a sense, it's also important to remember that the Ravens were going to give up two first-round picks for him. If they found anything in that medical examination that didn't make sense, there was no reason to make that trade.
The same will likely be said for other teams around the league that are thinking about trading for him.
