Green Bay Packers quarterback Malik Willis has been serving as the backup to Jordan Love this year. However, Willis got his opportunity to shine in his first start of the season in his team's 41-24 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17 on Saturday. Willis completed 18 of 21 passes for 288 yards with a touchdown while adding 60 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries before exiting in the fourth quarter due to a non-contact shoulder injury.

After Willis impressed in Green Bay's loss to the Ravens, ESPN analyst Benjamin Solak created a poll for fans on X on Saturday to choose a franchise QB for the next five years. Solak pitted Willis against Patrick Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs, but the Green Bay signal-caller won the poll with 55.7% of 1,973 votes.

To make matters interesting, Willis is on course to become a free agent in the 2026 offseason. Since the Packers already have Love tied down through the 2028 season, they could part ways with his backup.

Although Malik Willis did a fine job against the Ravens in his first start of the season, he might have to go back to being Jordan Love's backup in Green Bay's Week 18 game against the Minnesota Vikings on Jan. 4.

Love was ruled out for Week 17 due to a concussion and a shoulder injury. However, he could be healthy to lead the Packers' offense in their regular-season finale.

The Packers have already clinched a playoff berth. They will want to finish the regular season on a high note before entering the postseason.
