New Orleans Saints may target trade for Cleveland Browns QB after Derek Carr's retirement

After Derek Carr's surprising retirement announcement on Saturday, all eyes are on Saints head coach Kellen Moore to announce a blockbuster trade to bring in a veteran presence in his rather young QB room.

One potential and very possible option can come from Cleveland's QB room.

Rumors have the Browns potentially cutting somebody from their crowded quarterback room. Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel have just stepped in, leaving veteran QB Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett more vulnerable to a trade.

SB Nation's Damon Wolfe strongly foresees the Saints' front office calling up the Browns shortly.

"Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett becoming available at some point before the season is a real possibility, as it will be unlikely that Cleveland would keep all four on the initial 53-man roster. Connecting Pickett to the Saints would also make sense, as he played for Moore last season in Philadelphia," Wolfe writes.

"Recouping the draft pick the Browns spent to acquire Pickett would be ideal, but having more reps to give to Sanders or Gabriel to get ready would be the biggest benefit. If the Saints aren’t thrilled with Shough’s development over the coming weeks, watch for them to start calling Andrew Berry in Cleveland."

While most of it depends on how the rookies perform,  Flacco and Pickett's contracts expiring after 2025 can simply not be ignored.

It only makes moving either of them easier for Cleveland.
