New Dolphins QB poached from Raiders had endorsement from Tom Brady

The Miami Dolphins are adding another quarterback to their active roster ahead of the regular-season finale against the New England Patriots.

According to his agent, the Dolphins are poaching Las Vegas Raiders 2025 draft pick and quarterback Cam Miller off the practice squad.

Miller will now join the Dolphins' 53-man roster for the final game of the 2025 season. If no other quarterback is cut, Miami will have four on its active roster.

Prior to the Raiders drafting him, he had the endorsement of minority owner and NFL legend Tom Brady, according to Raiders general manager John Spytek.

"[Brady] liked the way [Miller] threw it, his technique, throwing from the ground up and his motion," Spytek said to The Athletic after the draft. "And he thought he had the potential to improve."

The 6-foot-1, 211-pound signal-caller spent the entire season on the Raiders' practice squad and didn't take a snap for Las Vegas. He did, however, see ample playing time in the preseason, where he showed some flashes.

Miller had an outstanding preseason debut, completing 6-of-7 passes for 76 yards and one touchdown. He struggled the next week but finished with a respectable showing in the preseason finale.

It isn't clear exactly why the Dolphins are signing Miller now, but they might have interest in keeping him around in the offseason with uncertainty at the quarterback position thanks to the murky future of Tua Tagovailoa.
