Opening Day always brings a different level of fun, but this year’s San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees matchup is adding something different.
With Netflix now doing MLB coverage for the first time, it'll be interesting to see how the platform does. And it’s getting even bigger with the addition of one of the best players in baseball history.
According to Susan Slusser, Barry Bonds will join the broadcast booth for Opening Night at Oracle Park, a rather surprising development considering Bonds isn't loved by many around Major League Baseball.
“It’s not just the San Francisco Giants and New York Yankees, and on Opening Night for the major leagues, no less: For the streaming service’s first-ever dip into live baseball, a franchise icon will join the broadcast. That’s right, Netflix landed Barry Bonds for Wednesday night’s game at Oracle Park. Bonds doesn’t often make himself available to speak, but he did some nice TV work during the All-Star festivities last year and also appeared on a Dodgers-Giants telecast.”
Bonds is arguably the greatest player of all time, and to me, he's by far the best. However, I can understand why some don't love what he did.
Nonetheless, it's going to be awesome to hear him talk baseball during the Yankees and Giants game. Listening to him talk about hitting is incredible, so I really urge fans to tune in.
