The Golden State Warriors are expected to trade Jonathan Kuminga before the Feb. 5 deadline. One of the players linked to the Warriors is Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans. A recent mock proposal shows how the Warriors and Pelicans can make the deal possible.

In a post on Reddit, one fan suggested a two-for-two deal between the Warriors and the Pelicans. It will allow Golden State to move on from Kuminga, who gets a fresh start in New Orleans, while Murphy provides shooting and perimeter defense to the Warriors.

Here's the mock trade between the two teams:

Pelicans get: Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield and three first-round picks

The deal gets approved salary-wise, since Trey Murphy III is signed to one of the most bargain contracts in the NBA. Buddy Hield and Saddiq Bey are salary fillers, while Jonathan Kuminga gets to be part of the New Orleans Pelicans' core, which already has Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears.

However, the biggest haul is the draft picks mentioned: first-round picks from 2026, 2030 and 2032. The 2026 will likely be in the mid-10s or early 20s, while the 2030 and 2032 should be a wildcard.

It's safe to assume that Steph Curry is going to be retired at that point, and the Warriors could be back to being a lottery team. That's one of the biggest fears among their fanbase, though their ownership is also loaded with money and could attract free agents.

According to The Athletic's Sam Amick, the Dallas Mavericks reportedly reached out to the Golden State Warriors about Jonathan Kuminga. The Mavericks are interested in taking a flyer on the 23-year-old forward, and they are even willing to part ways with Anthony Davis for him.

However, the Warriors will need to include Jimmy Butler or Draymond Green in the deal, which the franchise is reportedly not willing to do. Amick added that the interest in Kuminga is still there, so it could open up the possibility of just modifying a potential trade.

One trade target the Warriors can focus on is Daniel Gafford, who is just the right big man that they need if they want to get out of the NBA play-in spots, as per Sports Illustrated. Gafford is a rim runner, can catch lobs and block shots. He's a very good help defender, who could alleviate Green's frustrations with playing the small ball center.
