The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly open to trading Trae Young, who could become a free agent at the end of the season, amid their six-game losing streak. The latest NBA trade rumors suggest that the Hawks are looking at Anthony Davis of the Dallas Mavericks as a potential target.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, the Hawks are considering parting ways with their franchise guard, who has only played 10 games this season. Young suffered a knee injury five games into the campaign and only returned on Dec. 18 against the Chicago Bulls.

"There is a growing belief leaguewide that the Hawks are more open to trading him away than they've ever been, but what happens to their payroll if no such trade materializes and Young winds up exercising that option?" Stein wrote, according to NBA Central.

Marc Stein added that the Atlanta Hawks have a legitimate interest in acquiring Anthony Davis. Stein mentioned Chris Haynes' report that Trae Young wouldn't be included in a package for the Dallas Mavericks big man.

One problem the Hawks are facing is Davis' contract, which would see him get paid $58.5 million next season. He will also be extension eligible, so it's going to be an important part of the negotiations with the Mavs.

Davis has only played in 16 games this season because of injuries. He's never been known to stay healthy, but he's among the best players if he's on the court.

The Hawks interest in Anthony Davis is ‘real,’ per @TheSteinLine “The Hawks are a real-deal suitor for Davis. Just how far, though, are they willing to go in terms of a Davis offer? Haynes also reported that Trae Young would not be included in such a swap, but that creates potential financial obstacles for a franchise not exactly known for lavish spending. Davis is owed $58.5 million next season and is likewise known to be eager to secure an extension in August when he becomes eligible for one ... whether that's with the Mavericks or a team that acquires him.”

As for Trae Young, the Hawks are 2-8 this season when he's in the lineup. They are 0-5 with him playing since he returned on Dec. 18. They have a winning record of 13-10 without the four-time All-Star, led by Jalen Johnson, who has turned into an All-Star caliber player in his absence.
