Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis has found himself in the NBA trade mill with the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaching. ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel on Tuesday proposed a blockbuster five-team mock deal that would see Davis head to Atlanta and reunite Klay Thompson with Steph Curry at the Golden State Warriors.

Several NBA insiders have viewed the Atlanta Hawks as one of the most determined teams interested in acquiring Davis from Dallas before the trade deadline. Chris Haynes and Marc Stein reported that the Hawks aren’t just casually mentioned, as they’re actively discussing what it would take to strike a deal. The Hawks have reportedly held direct communication with Dallas about the former Lakers star.

The Atlanta Hawks receive:

  • Anthony Davis
  • Zach LaVine
  • D’Angelo Russell

The Dallas Mavericks receive:

  • Domantas Sabonis (F/C)
  • Zaccharie Risacher (F)
  • Luke Kennard (G)
  • Cleveland 2026 1st round pick (via Atlanta swap)
  • 2028 1st round swap (ATL/UTA/CLE)
  • 2026 2nd round pick (via ATL)

The Sacramento Kings receive

The Golden State Warriors receive:

  • Nic Claxton
  • Klay Thompson
  • Keon Ellis
  • 2026 2nd round pick (via SAC)

The Brooklyn Nets receive

  • Moses Moody
  • Buddy Hield
  • Trayce Jackson-Davis
  • 2027 1st rounder (top-8 protected from Warriors)

Reports suggest that the Hawks might be willing to trade Zaccharie Risacher as part of the package. Their on-court struggles (lost last seven games) have fueled the urgency to make the bold moves. Adding a proven winner like Davis could address their lack of interior size, defense and rebounding.

The deal is not without its own obstacles. Anthony Davis’s large contract, about $58 million next season plus extension potential per Spotrac, has raised payroll and luxury tax concerns for Atlanta. Furthermore, reports indicate that Trae Young is not expected to be part of a Davis deal, which has complicated Atlanta’s ability to match salaries and construct a competitive offer.

What’s next for Anthony Davis ahead of the Feb. 5 trade deadline?

Anthony Davis’ time at the Dallas Mavericks hasn’t gone as planned due to his injury history. However, his talent remains intact and when and if he stays fit, he could be a useful addition for the Hawks on both sides of the court.

Davis is under contract with the Mavericks for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. He also holds a player option worth about $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season and if he gets traded, sources have reported that he and his representatives could seek a contract extension with a new team, where he would push for a max-level deal.
