NBA superteam expected to shake things up this offseason following championship win

In the midst of the NBA playoffs featuring the best 16 teams in the league, one of them is looking into the future for some possible offseason moves.

According to Shams via the Pat McAfee show, he has been told for weeks that one specific juggernaut roster will be exploring options in the offseason.

The Boston Celtics advanced to the second round after defeating the Magic, but that has not stopped them from thinking ahead.

The Celtics, coming off their 18th championship victory in 2023-2024, are looking to make it two in a row. They are essentially running it back with the same roster as last year, with a few small changes here and there.

This, however, is not satisfying them. Shams has reported on the Pat McAffee show Thursday that the rest of the league is bracing for some level of change to the Celtics roster this offseason.

These decisions will likely be made depending on the result of this postseason, but the expert insider describes the team as “not sustainable” due to the new collective bargaining agreement.

The Celtics would be entering next season with five players scheduled to make over $28 million next season, and a salary bill of $500 million, the highest the league has ever seen.

That list would include Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday who were all acquired within the past three years and played a huge part in their championship win last year.

Brad Stevens and the rest of the front office have proven they are willing to make big moves, it is just a matter of what they see as best fitting come the offseason.

There isn't any word yet on who exactly could be on the trading block, but only time will tell who is rostered for the 2025=2026 season.
