Golden State Warriors guard Brandin Podziemski has big dreams of being one of the best players in the NBA someday. Ahead of the 2025-26 season, he said he wanted to be a better player than the Warriors' franchise superstar, Steph Curry. What he said, however, did not go well with some people within the organization.

Curry is one of the best players to ever suit up for Golden State. He has racked up several All-Star selections, four championships and two regular-season MVPs. It's hard to achieve what the all-time leader in 3-pointers made has done in his career. His resume has inspired Podz to reach his full potential and perform like a star player.

But when the 22-year-old expressed that he wants to be better than Curry, there were some "eyerolls" from people within the organization.

“Podziemski made a number of comments in the lead-up to the season about his long-term career ambitions, including a news conference answer to a question about whether he wanted to be as great as Steph Curry,” ESPN's Anthony Slater wrote.

“Podziemski said he ‘wants to be better than him,’ an answer that elicited some eyerolls and continued references from several within the organization. Podziemski's numbers (12.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists) are relatively stable from a season ago.”

Brandin Podziemski has a lot of things he has to do to be on the level of Curry. The star guard has put in a lot of effort over the course of his 17-year career to establish himself as the main attraction and leave a lasting impression on the court.

Fortunately for Podz, it's still early in his career, and he can make improvements to his game to help him achieve his goals.

Draymond Green is excited for Brandin Podziemski, but issues a warning

Draymond Green, a seasoned Warriors leader, was thrilled to learn that Brandin Podziemski aspired to surpass Curry. However, Green is also aware of the pressure that comes with it. Although the 6-foot-6 big man is excited for Podz, he issued a warning for the youngster.

“To hear BP say that, it’s exciting. But still, as a leader, you also understand what that comes with. And with him, I say: be careful,” Green said (Timestamp: 8:40). “Don’t tell people too much. Because the more you tell people, the more they use it against you and try to tear you down.”

According to the four-time champion, the young players on the team haven't experienced dealing with criticism. He said that it's a different thing to deal with, especially if a player isn't used to being the one having the most attention.

Green concluded his analysis of Brandin Podziemski's goals by stating that the Warriors have faith in him and the player he will develop into.
