NBA insider reveals potential family-centered Warriors pitch to LeBron James

Familiarity will likely factor into LeBron James’ 2026 offseason decision.

The 22-time All-Star has spent the past eight seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, even winning a championship with the organization in 2020. If other contending franchises want to convince James to take his talents elsewhere after nearly a decade, they’ll have to do their best to convince him that leaving Los Angeles could be beneficial in the long run.

According to the Stein Line’s Marc Stein, the Golden State Warriors may be prepared to make a convincing family-centered pitch to James this summer.

“Staying with the Lakers is widely believed to be his preferred choice because he is so entrenched in Los Angeles now after eight seasons with the purple and gold,” Stein wrote Tuesday.

“Yet league sources maintain that Golden State remains legitimately interested in adding LeBron to their Stephen Curry/Jimmy Butler/Draymond Green core coached by Steve Kerr ... with the pitch presumed to include the idea that LeBron could commute from Los Angeles to some TBD degree without having to move his family.”

A big reason the Lakers are the perceived No. 1 landing spot for James is that the four-time NBA champion has built a stable life for himself in Los Angeles and, of course, gets to compete with his son, Bronny, rather than against him.

If the Warriors’ commuting option materializes and the franchise promises James that his 21-year-old son would be included in a trade sending him to the Bay to continue playing with his future Hall of Famer, they could significantly increase their chances of striking gold in the James in the offseason sweepstakes.

Essentially, the Warriors have the blueprint to sign James this summer, but it’ll be up to them to execute it.
