The New York Knicks are champions, sitting on the NBA's throne for the first time in decades. Now, 29 other teams will go to work in hopes of dethroning them.

With the NBA Draft having come and passed, the time for basketball's established stars and veteran contributors to change teams has arrived. Nowadays, rather than hit the open market, superstars tend to force a trade to preferred destination — take the recent Bucks-Heat Giannis Antetokounmpo blockbuster for example — which means there aren't many big-name unrestricted free agents this summer. However, as it has many times in his legendary career, one name looms above them all: LeBron James.

With James' decision between retirement, re-signing with the Lakers or signing elsewhere remains to be seen, there are a few more lingering storylines developing this NBA offseason. With Antetokounmpo and LaMelo Ball already on the move, will Kawhi Leonard or Jaylen Brown join them on the trade market? Will James Harden and Jalen Duren re-up with their former squads or head somewhere new? And how will the Spurs, Thunder and Knicks re-tool as the top 2027 title contenders?

Mavericks send protected first-rounder to Grizzlies for Santi Aldama

Charania reported that the Grizzlies dealt Santi Aldama to the Mavericks. They'll receive AJ Johnson, the draft rights to Tarek Biberovic, a protected 2030 first-round pick and two future seconds to Memphis in exchange for the wing, who averaged 14.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 43 games last year.

76ers acquire Jaylen Brown for Paul George

The 76ers made a splash on Wednesday, sending Paul George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks to the Celtics in exchange for five-time All-Star Jaylen Brown. Per Charania, the picks headed to Boston include a 2028 first-rounder that convert into a swap that is more favorable to Boston and a 2031 unprotected first-rounder.

Spurs signing Tobias Harris

San Antonio is adding some scoring to its frontcourt, signing veteran Tobias Harris to a two-year, $31 million deal. Harris averaged 13.3 points for the Pistons last season, still one of the more consistent three-level scorers across the league.

Kelly Oubre Jr. heading to Pacers

Indiana is signing veteran wing Kelly Oubre Jr. to a two-year deal worth around $17 million. Oubre is set to join a Pacers squad that will have an eye on contention once again as Tyrese Haliburton returns from injury.

De'Anthony Melton returns to Warriors

Golden State is bringing back veteran guard De'Anthony Melton on a two-year, $11 million deal, per Charania. Melton averaged 12.3 points and 2.6 assists per game in 2025-26 as a key part of Steve Kerr's backcourt.

Lakers fill out roster with Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes, Collin Sexton

Immediately following the Kessler trade, Charania reports that the Lakers have agreed to three free-agent deals to help fill out their 2026-27 roster. Forward Sandro Mamukelashvili is signing a four-year, $52 million deal that carries a player option in Year 4, set to bring some length, shooting ability and versatility to Los Angeles.

Guard Quentin Grimes has also inked a four-year, $60 million deal with the Lakers after averaging 13.4 points per game off the bench for the 76ers last season, giving L.A. added scoring punch, shooting and defense in its backcourt.

Finally, guard Collin Sexton is reportedly signing a two-year, $19 million deal with the Lakers after averaging 15.4 points per game in Chicago last season.

Lakers acquiring Walker Kessler from Jazz

Walker Kessler has long been viewed as a trade candidate, and the Lakers have always loomed in those rumors — and that pairing is now becoming official. Kessler is heading to Los Angeles in exchange for unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swaps in 2028 and 2030, per Charania.

Kessler is also set to sign a four-year, $130 million extension with the Lakers, as he now becomes Luka Doncic's lead pick-and-roll partner and a defensive staple for years to come.

Mitchell Robinson departing Knicks for Celtics

After a long run in New York, winning a championship this past season as a key contributor off the bench, Mitchell Robinson is leaving the Knicks. The athletic center is signing a three-year, $47.4 million deal to join the Celtics. The deal carries a player option in Year 3, and Robinson now provides the Celtics with much-needed size. 

Jevon Carter returning to Magic

Mike Conley Jr. joining Celtics

Nikola Vucevic re-uniting with Magic

Norman Powell joining Bulls

Dean Wade agrees to 4-year deal with 76ers

Former Cavaliers forward Dean Wade will sign a four-year, $39 million deal with the 76ers. A former undrafted free agent, Wade spent seven seasons in Cleveland and emerged as a key rotation piece, averaging 5.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists this past season. Longtime Cavaliers executive Mike Gansey is the 76ers' new head of basketball operations, making this a natural fit.

Luke Kennard signing with Suns

Former Lakers sharpshooter Luke Kennard has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the Suns. Kennard is one of the NBA's elite 3-point shooters, as he shot 47.8 percent from deep this past season and is better than 44 percent for his career, but flaws in other aspects of his game have left him in a part-time role.

Keon Ellis agrees to two-year deal with Nets

Raptors acquiring Kawhi Leonard in blockbuster deal

Blazers, Robert Williams agree on extension

It's a three-year, $44 million extension for the center Williams, who was set to hit the open market once free agency begins. Williams has dealt with injuries throughout his career but played in 59 games for Portland last year, averaging 6.7 points and 7.0 rebounds on the season.

Heat re-sign Simone Fontecchio

Fontecchio is a five-year veteran who played in 70 games for Miami last year, averaging 8.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. He also shot over 37.5 percent from three and should find opportunities next year to play alongside Giannis in the rotation.

Warriors trade for Anthony Davis 'unlikely'

Windhorst reports that the Warriors don't appear to want to include Jimmy Butler in a deal, which is a big piece of a potential Davis trade. Therefore, Washington is more likely to keep him than to send him to Golden State. 

Wizards have interest in Russell Westbrook

The 34-year-old Barnes took a bit of a step back in the playoffs after starting 52 games in the regular season, but he's been a valuable leader for a young Spurs team and will play out his 15th NBA season in San Antonio.

Warriors re-signing Kristaps Porzingis

For now, Portland has Morant, Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday in its backcourt.

Hawks acquire former lottery pick Devin Carter

Carter, a lottery pick two years ago, played only 74 games in Sacramento and averaged 8.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this past season while battling efficiency issues.

Andrew Wiggins agrees to new deal with Heat

Davis is under contract with the Wizards, so reuniting him with James would require Golden State to work out a deal.

Kawhi Leonard trade buzz picking up with Raptors, Mavericks involved

It remains unclear how serious the Clippers are about moving Kawhi Leonard, but based on multiple reports on Sunday, there's a chance the superstar is traded.

Fischer reported that the Clippers have had "real trade conversations" with Leonard's former team, the Raptors, about a deal. That would hypothetically send Leonard back to the franchise where he won a title and Finals MVP in his only season, 2018-19.

The Athletic also reported, however, that the Mavericks, including president Masai Ujiri, have interested in acquiring Leonard, including a potential return package highlighted by P.J. Washington, Klay Thompson and draft picks.

Hornets sending Miles Bridges to Suns, acquiring Grayson Allen

Phoenix and Charlotte are swapping high-level role players, with the Suns landing the athletic forward, Miles Bridges, and the Hornets trading for both Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale. Additionally, the Suns get a 2029 first-round pick and a 2027 second-round pick, while the Hornets get a 2033 first-round pick.

Bridges will enter the Suns' starting five an offensive weapon, while Allen should help backfill the void left by the Hornets' LaMelo Ball trade.

Thunder re-signing Isaiah Hartenstein

While an Antetokounmpo trade was expected, this is a trade that came more out of left field. The Hornets are moving on from longtime franchise focal point LaMelo Ball, sending him to the Timberwolves, where he'll make for an All-Star backcourt with Anthony Edwards.

Minnesota is also acquiring Josh Green, while sending Charlotte back Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033).

The Hornets get a haul of draft picks as they bid farewell to one of the NBA's more entertaining guards, while Minnesota finally has a true point guard next to Edwards.

Al Horford signing new Warriors deal
