This morning, the NBA announced the officiating crew for Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
Who will be officiating Game 7 of the NBA Finals?
According to NBA.com, Game 7 will be officiated by James Capers, Josh Tiven and Sean Wright.
These are the following positions for each referee:
- James Capers- Crew Chief
- Josh Tiven- Referee
- Sean Wright - Umpire
- James Williams- Alternate
James Capers officiated 12 games as crew chief this postseason, and the home and away teams split the games evenly.

The home team's point differential has been +9.3 in those games, with 42.8 fouls per game called.
Josh Tiven has officiated 10 games as a crew member, where the home team has won 70% of those games.
The home team's point differential in those games is a +14.0, which is higher than normal for games for an official this postseason.
Lastly, Sean Wright has been a crew member in eight of the nine games he's officiated in the 2025 playoffs.

The home team has won just two out of eight of these contests.
The foul call difference between the away and home teams in these games is almost even.
Capers seems like a good choice to be the crew chief for this game, considering the even record between the away and home teams.

Tiven and Wright are complete opposites when it comes to which team is favored in the games they've officiated in the past, but it's encouraging that Wright's past games have called fouls pretty evenly on both teams.
Based on this, I'd project that the officiating advantage leans towards the Thunder because of some of the past stats favoring home teams, but they seem to have put together a fairly decent crew for a big game.
