NBA executives believe Bulls' Coby White could be traded

The Chicago Bulls have had a slow start to the season, and speculation is growing about the availability of their veteran players.

One of those players is guard Coby White, who NBA reporter Evan Sidery believes could be on the trade block.

White is having the best season of his seven-year career so far. He’s averaging 21.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per night. He’s shooting 44% from the field and 28.6% from 3-point range.

Rival executives believe the Bulls would be receptive to moving Coby White during trade season.

White, who is an upcoming unrestricted free agent, could net Chicago strong value in any potential deal.

Recurring calf issues have limited White to 11 games this season. He missed the Bulls’ first 11 games due to a right calf strain and has been in-and-out of the lineup lately after a left calf strain.

White, who was drafted No. 7 overall by Chicago in the 2019 NBA Draft, has started 234 games during his time with the Bulls. He’s averaged 15.3 points, 3.9 assists and is a career 36.7% shooter from long range.

White could be seen as an attractive rental option for a contending team. He’s on a $12.5 million contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. If the Bulls don’t want to extend him, they could look to trade him for value.

Chicago's front office may see the writing on the wall regarding the team’s future and decide to pivot in a younger direction. Other Bulls mentioned in trade rumors include Nikola Vučević, Ayo Dosunmu, Patrick Williams and Kevin Huerter.

Chicago has slumped to a 12-15 record after opening the season 6-1. The Bulls are 10th in the Eastern Conference and hold a 1.5 game lead on the final play-in spot.
